“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” – Revelation 21:1-2
In this final installment of my 14-week series on the Book of Revelation, we end with the culmination of God’s plan for mankind. In this life, believers look forward to being in Heaven someday, but what a lot of Christians don’t know is that Heaven will be transferred to Earth in the end. The Book of Revelation’s final chapters speak of a NEW Heaven and a NEW Earth, and I’m pretty sure average people that aren’t theologians are confused or curious about that. In my book,THE COMING SIGNS OF OUR TIMES, I dedicated the final chapter to this exciting subject.
Today, in this last preview from my book, I’ll share a few pages from that chapter. So, if you have ever wondered what the earth, Universe, and Heaven, will be like after the war to end all wars, you will finally have some clear and concise answers. Enjoy this preview about the New Heaven and New Earth…
I like the description of Christ’s Millennial Kingdom by Hal Lindsey in his book, There’s a New World Coming. He said, “The sky will be bluer, the grass will be greener, the flowers will smell sweeter, the air will be cleaner, and man will be happier than he ever dreamed possible!” I do not think that you could ever describe it any better than that.
Zechariah (in Chapter 14 of his prophetic Book) and Ezekiel (in Chapters 40-48 of his Book) both describe the future of Israel during the Millennium. They write about a new glorious Temple being built in Jerusalem, and all nations of the earth coming up every year to worship YHWH there. Zechariah says that nations who do not come to worship God during the Feast of Tabernacles will receive no rain. Ezekiel gives great details concerning the Land allotment of the 12 Tribes during the Millennium. So, those who say that God is “done with Israel” have obviously never read the prophetic Books of the Bible. They detail the future of Israel more than any other nation or people in the history of the world. The LORD will never be done with Israel. Not ever!
Following the Millennial reign of Christ on the earth with His saints (Old Testament saints, resurrected Church, the martyrs, and those who had become believers during the Tribulation Hour), the remainder of the dead (all unbelievers throughout history) will be raised and judged. They’ll then be cast into the lake of fire, along with Death and Hell (Revelation 20:11-15). Following this final judgment of mankind, John says he “saw a new heaven and a new earth: the first heaven and first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea” (Revelation 21:1).
After about 7,000 years of humans defiling this earth through sin, and following the destruction of at least half of it during the Tribulation, the LORD is finally going to unveil a new and perfect Earth. The planet will be filled with the beauty of the Garden of Eden, and there’ll be no more seas or deserts. It’ll be like Heaven on Earth. It will be the long desired answer to the Lord’s Prayer we Christians have prayed for thousands of years: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, ON EARTH as it is in Heaven.” Isaiah was given visions of this new Earth thousands of years ago, and he described it in Chapters 11 and 65 of his Book –
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp (venomous serpent), and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ (poisonous serpent or small dragon-like creature) den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” – 11:6-9
“They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.” – 65:17-25
As for the new Heaven, I am not sure if that means simply a new Universe or if God’s Holy Heaven will also be recreated or renovated. I guess we will have to wait and see. I do not think that any human being will know for sure in this life. All I know is that He will make “all things new” (Revelation 21:5). One of the new things that He reveals the most information about, in Chapters 21 and 22 of Revelation, is the new Jerusalem. God’s Holy City gets recreated, and John witnesses it descend from Heaven toward the earth. The new Jerusalem will be a sight to behold, as we’ll learn going forward. It will be 2-million square miles, dwarfing earthly Jerusalem (48 square miles).
It’ll be in the new Holy City where the LORD Himself dwells amongst His people (Revelation 21:3-4). Next, John says that he heard a great voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Praise the Lord for that day!
That’s it for this week’s preview from the book. To read more about New Jerusalem, and about YHWH and Lord Jesus coming down to dwell among us for eternity, head over to Amazon and grab the book by clicking on the image below. You can grab all of my books there in paperback, ebook, or audiobook format. You can also find them on Barnes and Noble, Booksamillion, Walmart, or at many other online global book retailers.
I hope that you have enjoyed my series on the Book of Revelation, and my book if you ended up grabbing a copy. If you have enjoyed these studies, share them and/or the book with those whom you love that you do not want to see left behind. When Jesus said that the Great Tribulation would be the worst tribulation that the world has ever seen, he was not kidding. I have explained why, in every chapter of my book, you don’t want to be here to experience one second of the events described.
Obviously, those who are saved will experience the final event I described today; and praise the LORD for that! I can’t wait to be ruling and reigning with our Lord from this earth, surrounded by His everlasting light and the glorious presence of our God and Father forever.
Until He comes to rapture us out of the mess of this evil world in which we currently sojourn, keep preaching the Word, encouraging your brothers and sisters in Christ, and keep looking up; because the King is coming!
Our King is coming!
“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” – Revelation 22:20
