Election Night SHOCKER: Trump And Republicans Win BIG – Will They Keep Their Promises?

After the shocking Election results last night, I’m pleasantly surprised, and cautiously optimistic. I say pleasantly surprised because if you have read any of my political articles, you know that I believed America’s Elections are rigged by a corrupt liberal media and the elite powers-that-be against Christians. I also say “cautiously” optimistic because while a Republican President and Congress would have been music to my ears 4 years ago, the Party did a lot to lose my support in this Election season. Not to mention, I’ve been firmly “never Trump” since he became the GOP nominee. Last night was very difficult for me as I cast my ballot, and left the Presidential choice section empty. I tried very hard to justify voting for Trump because I absolutely loathed the thought of a Hillary Clinton Presidency. Still, as I weighed all of the pros and cons which I’ve written extensively about over the past year, I stuck to my guns and sat the Presidential Race out. Charles Spurgeon’s words, “Of two evils, choose neither”, are what brought me to my final decision.

When I made public my choice to not support any of the Presidential Candidates this Year, the hardcore Trumpers were quick to criticize and viciously attack my decision. Even though I made clear to them that I did not sit out the Election completely, and still voted down ballot for all of the Christian Conservatives in my State, they still were angry that I didn’t board the Trump Train. Their guy won, and I congratulate them, but I intended to vote my conscience last night, and that is exactly what I did. Now, to be clear, I sure will feel a lot more comfortable under a Trump presidency than I have under Obama, or would under a Hillary administration, especially with a Republican Congress. I thank God that Hillary Clinton is not the President-Elect today. She would have been a disaster.

Now that Donald Trump is officially the next Commander-in-Chief, my number one question is will he keep the Campaign promises that he has made to Christians? I could not endorse nor support him for President because I have believed that much of what he promised us was lip service to get elected. His fairly new positions on the issues that matter resemble those of the candidate whom I endorsed, Ted Cruz, but they are in conflict with the stances he took earlier in his campaign. So which Donald Trump will we get as POTUS? The Republicrat liberal “New York Values” Primary Trump, or the refined Christian-values Trump? I’m praying for the latter.

One things for sure, I’m going to hold Donald Trump accountable for every campaign promise he has made to Christians. I believe those promises are the reason why he was put over the top in many States last night, because many Christian Conservatives took a leap of faith that he would be a man of his word. I pray that they were right in their assumptions. I hope that I have been wrong about Trump, and I will not be slack in admitting I was wrong if and when he delivers. A lot of the promises he has made sound wonderful, and with Republican majorities in the House, the Senate, and in two-thirds of State Governors’ mansions, he will not be hindered one bit in enacting his agenda. The only thing that could stop him is the GOP continuing to shy away from fighting for the Christian policies we elected them to put into place.

Going into Trump’s term as President, there are 7 promises which he has made to Holy Bible believers, which every Republican should support, or else they are representing the wrong Party. I will also remind you of Trump’s initial statements on many of these issues which greatly bring into question his sincerity regarding the pledges he has recently made. Christians elected him to do all of these things, so if he does not, be sure that I will call him out on every broken promise. He has said that he will –

* Move Israel’s U.S. Embassy to their Capital, JERUSALEM *

* Appoint Supreme Court Justices who will overturn Gay Marriage and Roe V. Wade *

* DEFUND Abortion Wing of Planned Parenthood/Make Hyde Amendment PERMANENT *

* Tear up the Incredibly BAD DEAL With Iran *

* Halt Islamic Immigration from ALL Nations that breed Islamic Terrorism *

* Fully REPEAL Obamacare *

* “Bomb the hell out of” and DESTROY ISIS *

This is an agenda I would have supported any other candidate for, but the problem is that I did not, and sadly do not, see Donald Trump as the kind of man who would follow through on these things. I pray that he proves me wrong!!! For anyone questioning why I could not vote for Trump, I’ll give you the reasons for my reservations. Before he became the Republican nominee, here is where Donald stood on many of these important issues –

Trump stated in a Primary Debate that the nation’s leading murderer of the unborn, Planned Parenthood, does “many wonderful things”, and that he would not pursue the “defunding” of the organization. Though today, his story has changed. Hopefully Donald will keep his current promise to now DEFUND the abortion monster.

Trump was selling “LGBTQ for Trump” shirts and buttons on his official Campaign website. If I didn’t know that he was a running as a Republican, I would have surely thought from his website that he was a liberal Democrat. The caption for the LGBTQ merchandise says, “Show your PRIDE and your support for Trump with this exclusive EQUALITY tee.” Trump also took the same position as Liberal Democrats, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton on the “Transgender Bathroom Bills” in North Carolina and elsewhere.

Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, an advocacy group for gay Republicans, said of Trump, “He is one of the BEST, if not THE best, pro-gay Republican candidates to EVER run for the presidency.” He added that Trump would “do no harm on Gay Marriage”, and has a “stand-out position” on nondiscrimination legislation. Concerning the Gay Marriage Ruling by the SCOTUS, Trump said, “the Court has ruled and it is the law of the land. You have to go with it.”

Just last year, a lesbian reporter asked him, “When President Trump is in office can we look for more FORWARD motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Trump responded, “Well, you CAN. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together.” So will we get THIS Donald as President, or the Donald who promises to defend Religious Liberty and overturn Gay Marriage?

Donald Trump has said in the Primary Debates that he would be “NEUTRAL” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He also pledged to give the “Peace Plan” (which DIVIDES the Holy Land of Israel and gives some of the Jewish State’s Holiest Cities to the murderous Palestinians) “one hell of a shot.” He said, “If I do win, there has to be a certain amount of surprise, UNPREDICTABILITY. Our country has no unpredictability.” Sorry Donald, but when it comes to Israel, we should ALWAYS be predictable in standing shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish State. “I think it serves no purpose to say that you have a good guy and a bad guy. It doesn’t do any good to start demeaning the neighbors (Palestinians), because I would love to do something with regard to negotiating peace, finally, for Israel and for their neighbors. And I can’t do that as a negotiator, I cannot do that if I’m taking big, big sides,” Trump said at a Debate. So will we get THIS Trump, or the Trump who now pledges to move the U.S. Embassy to the Holy City of Jerusalem?

Many Republicans, especially all those who criticized me last night, seemed content in ignoring the major flip flops Trump made on all of the issues most important to Christian voters, but I could not bring myself to back him after all these discrepancies. It wasn’t just Trump who I became disenfranchised with in the Election season though, it was the Republican Party itself. Which is why I have said I’m CAUTIOUSLY optimistic. Which Republican Party will we get over the next 4 years? Hopefully they will be a GOP that will regain my trust. Earlier this year, I said that the GOP was not my Party anymore because they abandoned Christian Conservative values. So it is my hope and prayer that they will use the authority which they have been given in this Election to win back all of us old-fashioned, God-fearing Christians. A Republican Government and President will mean absolutely nothing without Revival in this Nation and a humble return to our God.

My friends, the Benham Brothers, put out a great post-Election message to Christians today. They said, “Tyranny will CRUSH a nation, but populism will CORRUPT it from the inside-out if we don’t get back to living by principle. Specifically, principles from the Bible. To drill deeper, you need to know that at it’s most simplistic form Tyranny is ruling from the top-down with an iron fist. This is what many of the Democratic policies lead to. Populism, however, is ruling from the bottom-up with a soft hand. And while this sounds great, at it’s core it is really bad because it basically says ‘whatever is POPULAR is what we need to do.'”

I couldn’t agree more, and in my opinion, that is exactly what the GOP turned into this Election Year, a Party abandoning traditional “Religious Right” principles to cater to popular opinion. That is why we need to take the Benhams’ wise words to heart, and not expect the Republican Party or President Trump to return this nation to The LORD. That responsibility falls on US Christians, and not U.S. politicians. We must demand the policy changes so desperately needed, and insist that Trump and the GOP keep the campaign promises they have made.

WE believers are meant to influence and change the culture, as the elected officials never will on their own. No Republican or Democrat will ever be able to “make America great again” until they realize that, in order to do that, we as a nation must “make GOD GREAT in America again”. Until the nation returns humbly to HIM, and repents for the many years of backsliding, wickedness, and abominations, NOTHING in this Nation will change. The Benhams also pointed out, what many Christians missed last night amidst celebrating, that NINE States legalized marijuana for “recreational use”. So while Republicans dominated Election Night, we still saw Americans voting “YES” on unGodly legislation. This just goes to show that a Republican dominated government is not the answer for America’s societal ills. We Christians know Who is. And His initials are NOT D.T., but J.C.!

It will probably take 4 years, at least, to undo all of the abominable damage which Obama has done, but hopefully a Republican controlled White House and Congress is a step in the right direction. The next 4 years should undoubtedly be better for America than the last 8 years, as it could not possibly get worse than it was under the Obama Administration. Still, this can only be true if we Christians hold the newly elected officials’ feet to the fire concerning all that they have promised us. I truly hope and pray that Donald Trump and the Republican Party will prove all of my criticism wrong.

Trump recently spoke at a Christian event, and said, “So let me state this right up front: In a Trump Administration, our Christian heritage will be cherished, protected, defended. Because if I’m there, you’re going to have plenty of power. You don’t need anybody else. You’re going to have somebody representing you very, very well. Remember that.” We will remember Donald… WILL YOU?

  1. Thanks for a balanced analysis. Today I woke up and saw the news in amazement.
I’ve been praying and reading a lot about this. Since I’m not American and live in the Southern Hemisphere, I have the blessing to see this situation from a distance, but I’ve encountered lots of different opinions, and it’s so hard to discern who’s right and who’s wrong.
But all in all, even as a Christian conservative, and well-aware of what Hillary stood for, I’m wary of supporting this man. Like you, I really hope God uses him for mercy and not judgment (though probably the US needs a bit of both).
These are the Scriptures I was reminded of today as regards this election: 1 Timothy 2:1-2 and Romans 13:1-2 on respecting and praying for ALL authorities; Psalm 118:8-9 and Jeremiah 17, on guarding our hearts against excessive trust in our leaders; 1 Samuel 2:3-10, on believing and praying that God will break the bows of mighty, wicked people; and 1 Samuel 8, a strong warning from God for us when we choose to be ruled by men rather than by Jesus the King.
I lift my prayers for your country, because what happens over there will surely affect us down here in Argentina and everywhere.
