JUDGMENTS: Earthquakes, Flooding And Tornadoes Top The Headlines

Devastating earthquakes have dominated news coverage today, multiple tornadoes are touching down this evening, and last week flooding in Louisiana topped the headlines. We are witnessing judgment upon judgment across the globe. Instead of humble repentance though, most do not acknowledge a sinful global society as the cause for these disasters. Instead, world leaders, the mainstream media, and a majority of the world’s citizens blame “climate change”. Because of this willful ignorance, these judgments will not only continue but increasingly get WORSE. What more does God have to do to get the world’s attention?! These recent disasters, while devastating, are minor compared to the judgments that He could be pouring out upon this sinful nation and world. If a world full of unrepentant sinners continues to ignore God’s warnings, or even deny them altogether through “climate change” reasoning, then these minor disasters will turn into MAJOR disasters quickly.

In what was described as an “Apocalyptic scene”, the small Town of Amatrice was reduced to a pile of rubble this morning after a strong and shallow 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolted central Italy. “The town isn’t here anymore,” said Sergio Pirozzi, the mayor of Amatrice. The quake was felt across much of central Italy, including Rome. Centered in Rieti, the earthquake nearly obliterated the tiny towns of Amatrice and Accumoli. Amatrice has a population of around 2,000 people. As of now, at least 250 are dead with nearly 400 more injured. With many still unaccounted for, the toll is expected to rise. Over 200 aftershocks have followed, including a strong 5.5 magnitude tremor one hour after the initial quake. Though a 6.2 earthquake doesn’t sound deadly like the 7.0-9.0 quakes we’ve witnessed in recent years, the shallow earthquakes tend to be more damaging than the deeper quakes of higher magnitudes.

Also today, a powerful 6.8 magnitude quake rocked Myanmar, and tremors were felt as far away as Thailand, Bangladesh and India. Hundreds of Buddhist stupas, temples and statues were damaged, primarily around the capital of Bagan. This brought to my mind the verses in Scripture where God said that He would DESTROY the false gods and idols of the nations. ~ “And the idols He shall utterly ABOLISH.” ~ Isaiah 2.18 — “All of the graven images of her gods He has BROKEN unto the ground.” ~ Isaiah 21:9 — “Declare you among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say.. her IDOLS are confounded, her images are BROKEN in pieces.” ~ Jeremiah 50:2 — Truly, The LORD has broken many of the Buddhist idols in pieces today.

Last week, it was devastating flooding that captured the headlines, as nearly 1/3 of Louisiana’s parishes were underwater. The Red Cross labeled it a “500-year flood” and called it “the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.” It’s estimated that between 40,000 to 110,000 homes were damaged in the floods. About 280,000 people live in the flooded areas, which contained 110,000 homes and more than 7,000 businesses. Approximately 30 inches of rain fell from August 11th to the 13th which left entire neighborhoods submerged.

As if these disasters weren’t enough of a wake up call to the earth’s inhabitants, multiple tornadoes have touched down today in Indiana, and more are expected in the U.S. tonight and in the coming days. The National Weather Service confirmed a large and destructive tornado hitting 40 miles north of Indianapolis, and others sprung up in the center of the State today. The twisters damaged homes, downed trees, left over 60,000 residents without power and WIPED OUT a Starbucks cafe. (The Starbucks being leveled goes right along with my earlier comments about God destroying the idols and false gods. From what I’ve understood, the Starbucks female logo represents a Norse “goddess”.) This past weekend, western Michigan experienced a “Tornado Outbreak” as 6 total tornadoes touched down on August 20th.

Brothers and sisters, we who know God’s Word understand that these disasters are NOT the result of “man-made global warming” or “climate change”. Secular and unGodly men always point to these theories to explain away the Just Judgment of A Holy God. The Holy Bible tells us time and time again that God uses severe storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding, and other disasters to execute His Judgment and Wrath. Smaller, less severe disasters are meant as WARNINGS to lead nations to repentance and back to Him. These recent disasters were not small by any means, but trust me when I tell you that these are only WARNINGS. The worst is yet to come and WILL come soon if the world does not wake up, repent, and return to The LORD.

“Behold, The Lord has a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a FLOOD of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.” ~ Isaiah 28:2

“Thus saith The LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing FLOOD, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall CRY, and all the inhabitants of the land shall HOWL.” ~ Jeremiah 47:2

And THEN shall they see ME (Jesus Christ) COMING in a cloud with Power and great Glory. And when THESE things begin to come to pass, then LOOK UP, and lift up your heads; for YOUR redemption draweth NEAR.” ~ Luke 21:25-28
