Wheaton Christian College in Illinois, the alma mater of legendary evangelist Billy Graham and his wife Ruth, has recently come to a crossroads. Will the “Evangelical Harvard” hold to tradition and stand firm on Biblical Doctrine, or will it give into secular pressure and bow to political correctness? Last month, Larycia Alaine Hawkins, a professor at the University, was placed on paid administrative leave pending termination, after stating on Social Media that muslims and Christians worship the “same God”. Her blasphemous and heretical claim contradicts the Holy Bible, and thus the Institution’s statement of Faith. She also announced in the same Facebook post that she would wear an islamic hijab throughout the Christmas season to show solidarity with muslims. Just last week, in a concerning turn of events, Wheaton’s faculty council unanimously voted to recommend that the College’s leadership REVERSE it’s decision to fire Hawkins.
Earlier this month the College announced that it had begun the termination process for Hawkins after it reached an “impasse.” Hawkins will have a hearing in front of a faculty committee on Feb. 11. The president will then make a recommendation to the college’s board of trustees, which ultimately decides Hawkins’ fate. Throughout the past month, Hawkins has been flanked by many blasphemous liberal leaders during her press conferences, as she tries to somehow paint the College as discriminatory or prejudice. In reality, she took the job at a CHRISTIAN College full well knowing that her teachings must line up with Biblical Doctrine, and NOT her own ideology or opinion.
Wheaton officials have said that Hawkins’ Facebook post was not an assertion they could support, adding “We believe there are fundamental differences between the two faiths.” The officials are absolutely correct. There are MANY fundamental differences between Christianity and Islam. To avoid writing a whole ‘nother opinion piece in this article, I direct you to my articles on this Site entitled “Exposing Islam: The Anti-God Religion” and “Islamic Terror IS Islam: The Quran Says So”. Long story short, after reading these articles, you will find that Islam is the POLAR OPPOSITE of Christianity and Judaism. There is no conceivable way that we worship the same God. A Professor at a Christian College should NEVER promote such a blatant lie for any reason.
Hawkins’ recently said that she “does not want to be subjected to a theological inquisition.” She doesn’t because she knows how UN-Biblical her assumptions are. This isn’t the first controversial thing that Hawkins’ has done either. She wrote an academic paper about what Christians could learn from “black liberation theology”. For those of you unfamiliar, black liberation theology is taught by infamous black pastors like Obama’s former controversial racist pastor, Jeremiah Wright. It teaches anti-Semitism, racism against whites, and justifies islamic terrorism against Jews, Christians, Israel and America. Hawkins’ was once also called in to meet with the faculty to defend a photograph someone posted on Facebook tagging her at a Chicago Gay Pride Parade.
She has said of her current battle with the University, “It is not an exaggeration to say that this is a turning point in evangelicalism and at Wheaton.” The devil hopes she is right. While us Christians hope she ends up in the unemployment line where she belongs. As far as “turning point” or “crossroads”, Wheaton certainly does have a potentionally faith-altering decision to make, and the University is one that other Christian Schools take the lead from across the country. So let’s pray that Wheaton does not make the WRONG decision, which would be sacrificing Biblical Truth and reinstating a blasphemous rabble rouser.
Hawkins’ said of her decision to don the islamic hijab, that she had “sought the advice and blessing of the Council on American Islamic Relations, CAIR, where I have a friend and Board colleague on staff.” For those of you who aren’t aware, CAIR was created in 1994 by the U.S. branch of the Palestinian Terror Group HAMAS, known as the “Palestine Committee,” to function as the “political arm” of Hamas. CAIR was designated by the U.S. Government as a terrorist co-conspirator in 2007. CAIR is also infiltrated with members of another Islamic Terror Group, the Muslim Brotherhood.
Franklin Graham, the son of Billy Graham, recently showed his disgust with Wheaton’s faculty calling to reinstate Hawkins’ to teach at his father’s alma mater ~
“Both my father Billy Graham and my mother attended Wheaton College in Illinois – in fact that’s where they met. I’m surprised and disappointed that the faculty council there is now recommending the college drop their plans to terminate a professor who published that she believed Islam and Christianity worship the same God in December. This is no minor issue that should be debated. Islam denies that God has a Son. They deny that Jesus is God. They do not believe in a Triune God – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. I can tell you – Islam and Christianity CLEARLY do not worship the same God. How the faculty council can now support this professor being allowed to teach students is deeply concerning.”
AMEN. Deeply concerning is right Franklin. This woman needs to be FIRED. No question. She does not work for a liberal secular college, she works for a CHRISTIAN college, one of the most historic Christian colleges at that. If she is reinstated, political correctness will trump Biblical Doctrine at Wheaton College, and it will be a very sad chapter in the history of Christian education and Christendom. God help the powers that be at Wheaton to make the right decision regardless of secular, liberal or muslim backlash.
