Throughout the Presidential Campaign, as far back as the Republican Primaries, I referred to Donald Trump as a liberal Republicrat. I believed his “New York Values” were not synonymous with “Conservative Values”, but rather at odds. Since he has been elected the 45th President of the United States, many of the Republicans who voted for him are referring to him as a Conservative. While he may be far from the radical liberal ideologue that the previous President was, he is also far from being a Conservative ideologue like myself. Too many people today are redefining what the label “Conservative” means. Many Republicans seem to think that being a nationalist, anti-Obama, anti-Hillary, pro-gun, anti-immigration Trump-supporter is what makes you Conservative, but they are grossly mistaken. The definition of Conservative has always been “a person who is averse to change and holds to traditional VALUES”.
Therefore, an American Conservative would be defined as someone who holds firm to the nation’s historic Judeo-Christian values. If you call yourself a Conservative, then that means that you place the Holy Bible and God’s Law over the laws and popular opinions of men. It means, in today’s Godless society, that you are pro-Life, oppose Islamization of America, and that you oppose Gay Marriage and the radical LGBT Agenda. Being a Conservative means holding firm to all of these values, not just one of them or some of them, but ALL of the above. That is why, politically, I favor the Republican platform by leaps and bounds over the Democratic one, because the GOP is far more in line with my beliefs and values. Yet, I have said many times, that I’m NOT a Republican, nor a Democrat, but a CHRISTIAN Conservative, because there are many Republicans who do not endorse the traditional values which I hold dear. The Republican Party, under President Trump, seems to be moving further and further away from their extremely Conservative Platform.
The official 2016 Republican Platform implicitly states that the Party intends to reverse the U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized Gay Marriage. Yet, President Trump seems to strongly oppose fulfilling this Republican promise to voters. In regard to the Gay Marriage ruling, Trump has said that legalized homosexual marriage is “settled law”, that he is “fine with it”, and that we should “move on”. Critics, like myself, accuse the President of hypocrisy, as he does not say the same about the equally abominable Roe V. Wade ruling by the Supreme Court. Hopefully he and the Republicans will not backtrack on their promise to repeal that unGodly decision as well.
To all of my Conservative friends who label Donald Trump a “Conservative”, did you know that to this day the President is still selling “LGBTQ for Trump” merchandise on donaldjtrump.com? This merchandise first appeared on his Campaign website during the Republican Primaries, and though I wrote extensively about it, many Republicans did not seem to be bothered at all. The caption for the LGBT t-shirt says, “Show your PRIDE and your support for Trump with this exclusive EQUALITY tee.” So during the Presidential Campaign, and now as President, Trump is endorsing the “pride” of homosexuals, and is promoting “equality” which was the slogan for the Gay Marriage movement. So, while Trump may bear the Republican label, he will never be a Conservative. No, not by any stretch of the imagination.
Trump has held the same position as Liberal Democrats on the Transgender Bathroom Bills which endanger women and children across the country, and enable sexual predators. During the Election, Gregory T. Angelo, the president of Log Cabin Republicans, an advocacy group for gay Republicans, said of Trump, “He’s one of the BEST, if not THE best, pro-gay Republican candidates to EVER run for the presidency.” He added that Trump would “do no harm on Gay Marriage”, and has a “stand-out position” on nondiscrimination legislation. On top of that, a lesbian reporter once asked him, “When President Trump is in office can we look for more FORWARD motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Trump responded, “Well, you CAN. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing.”
Also, at the Republican Convention, he spoke a great deal about LGBTQ issues, but failed to mention Religious Liberty, abortion, GOD, Israel, or any social issues that matter to Christian voters. So far, it looks like Gregory Angelo was spot on in his assessment of Donald Trump, which is a huge disappointment for Christian Conservatives, especially any of you who entrusted him with your vote in November. Last month, senior Trump adviser Jared Kushner (Trump’s son-in-law) and his wife, Ivanka Trump, influenced their father to scrap an Executive Order that would have overturned a pro-LGBT and anti-Religious Freedom Executive Order of the Obama Administration.
Following this act of Christian-betrayal by the President, the White House released a statement which read, “President Trump continues to be respectful and SUPPORTIVE of LGBTQ rights, just as he was throughout the election. The President is proud to have been the first ever GOP nominee to mention the LGBTQ community in his nomination acceptance speech.” As far as my assumptions about Trump’s support for the LGBT agenda throughout the Election, I’ve been proved 100% right, which is a massive disappointment. The decision to keep Obama’s Executive Order was hailed by gay and lesbian Republicans. Gregory Angelo, whom I eluded to earlier, chimed in again, saying, “Donald Trump campaigned promising to be a ‘real friend’ to the LGBT community, and now President Trump is delivering on that commitment”.
So Trump is delivering for the LGBT community, but not for the Christian community. Interesting, as far more Christians voted for Trump than the gay community did (IF ANY). Making matters worse, there were rumours last month of another Trump Executive Order coming that would serve as a national “Religious Freedom” Bill protecting Christian businesses and their Biblical conscience from LGBT or pro-choice attacks and lawsuits, to which White House press secretary Sean Spicer said that the Administration had NO PLANS to roll out. What a stab in the back of Holy Bible believers by Donald Trump.
If however, the President is pressured enough by Christian organizations that helped to elect him, like the FRC (Family Research Council), and eventually does produce some kind of “Religious Freedom” Executive Order, then which of Trump’s Executive Orders will trump the other? The pro-LGBT Executive Order and a “Religious Freedom” Order would be completely at odds, yet both would be official United States Policy. Sadly, the only thing certain right now is that the LGBT Order stands, and the Religious Freedom Order has been AXED. To top everything off, this week President Trump announced that he is reinstating Randy Berry, who was put in place by the Obama Administration as an “International LGBT Envoy”.
Berry’s job entails promoting acceptance of homosexuality, bisexuality and transgenderism abroad “in the name of U.S. foreign policy”. HUH? Family Research Council president, Tony Perkins, commented on this shocking act by the President, saying that “Keeping Berry only signals to the world that the extreme agenda of the Obama years is still deeply entrenched in the State Department.” It sure does look that way. In December, Perkins said, “The Obama administration has systematically filled the ranks of State with LGBTQ and abortion activists. Unless the next Secretary of State is willing to resist and remove this embedded agenda, the promotion and protection of true human rights, like Religious Liberty, will continue to languish.”
Sadly it appears as if, under a Trump Presidency, that Religious Freedom will continue to languish indeed. We sure can’t put our hope in the new Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, as he was responsible in 2013 for pressuring the Boy Scouts of America to allow Gay scout leaders and gay scouts. God help us. It’s a shame that Obama’s abominable policies are continuing under a Republican-controlled Government. It would appear that Donald Trump has played or duped Conservative Christians, but I warned you all for months where Trump stood on LGBT issues. Either many of you didn’t want to believe me, or didn’t expect Trump to govern according to his stances.
In his defense, Donald Trump made it clear that he was pro-LGBT throughout the entire Election, so he really didn’t deceive Christians. Sadly, Conservative Christians deceived themselves about Trump, or worse, they simply didn’t care. President Trump is not fighting against the radical LGBT agenda, but rather, is furthering it. He is not hindering it, but helping it. All the while, many so-called Christian Conservatives are PRAISING and exalting Trump, and are viewing him as a champion for the Conservative cause. To those of you who see him this way, I say… LOOK AGAIN.
