THE JERUSALEM POST reports: Masked men from the anti-Israel campus protest at University of Michigan came to homes of Board of Regents members before dawn on Wednesday demanding adoption of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) policies, according to the university.
Regent Jordan Acker said on social media that “masked intruders” came to the door of his residence demanding the defunding of police. He was concerned for the safety of his daughters sleeping at the home.
“This form of protest isn’t peaceful. Public officials shouldn’t be subject to this sort of intimidating conduct, and this behavior is unacceptable from any member of the Michigan community,” he wrote on X.
He added, “I will not be intimidated.”
Regent Sarah Hubbard said a group of about 30 protesters came to her home at dawn on Wednesday, erecting tents and placing fake corpses wrapped in bloody sheets on her lawn and front porch.
“Protesting at a public official’s private residence is unacceptable. It won’t move their cause forward in any satisfactory manner,” said Hubbard.
She said the protesters used bullhorns, drums, and chants to disrupt the peace of her neighborhood, and that they taped a list of demands to her front door.
She reiterated that the board’s recent response to their BDS demands was a resounding no. Still, representatives of the encampment said they wouldn’t take “no for an answer” and told her to “stop complaining on Twitter and come to the encampment to negotiate.”
The University said, “Tactics used today represent a significant and dangerous escalation in the protests on campus.”… (Continue reading)
