Not My Party Anymore: Republican And Conservative Are No Longer Synonymous

The legendary Baptist preacher, Charles Spurgeon said, “Of two evils, choose NEITHER.” In our modern political landscape, American Christians are consistently forced to choose “the lesser of two evils”. This year, I suggest we all heed Spurgeon’s words of wisdom. He also said, “Christians must turn from the endless cycle of voting for the lesser of evils and expecting an unrighteous act to produce a righteous result. From a communist to a cultist, choosing the lesser of evils is still evil, and never should we do evil that good may come.” Every four years, the Republican Elite dangles a Christian Conservative candidate in front of us, giving us hope for a Godly leader. Then, we sadly watch them fall to an establishment picked moderate RINO, or in this year’s case, to a liberal Democrat running as a Republican.

Year after year, this continues to happen, and Conservatives are USED as pawns by the GOP to help elect THEIR chosen candidate. After tonight, I’m done with the political games, and I’m officially DONE with the Republican Party. They have made it clear tonight  that Conservatives are no longer welcome. When Ronald Reagan left the Democrat Party, he said, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party LEFT ME.” These same words are being uttered tonight, not just by me, but my many Conservatives who have felt  betrayed by the Republican Party too many times, and now for the LAST time. We’ve had enough.

Following Donald Trump’s Primary win tonight, RNC Chairman, Reince Priebus, said that “we (Republicans) must unite around Trump as the Nominee”. No Reince, “we MUST for the sake of the Country” is no longer a line that will work on us. We Conservatives have been forgotten by the Party for too long. We don’t, or should I say now, DID NOT owe you anything. The GOP establishment has been forcing moderate and liberal “electable” candidates down our throats for years, and enough is enough. The Republican Party for centuries had been known as the “Religious Right”, that is until the past few Election cycles. Now, Party heads are more worried about attracting the electorate they don’t have (moderates), rather than appealing to the faithful base (right-wing) that they have always had.

The Party wants to change with the times, rather than have this generation change it’s morals and values. The Republican establishment is not alone in it’s quest to reshape and rebrand the Grand Ole Party, as it has powerful help in the MEDIA. The longtime go-to news network for conservatives, FOX News, has over the past year utterly betrayed it’s loyal viewers by pushing the GOP Elite’s agenda. The network’s most popular hosts and pundits had been so unfairly hostile toward Ted Cruz throughout the Election season, while at the same time, shamelessly promoting and CAMPAIGNING for Donald Trump. It’s been nauseating to watch. Months ago, it got to the point where I actually had to boycott the channel. This would have been unheard of to me years ago, as FOX is supposed to be a Conservative News Network. They are no longer.

The CEO of FOX, Rupert Murdoch, tweeted a statement a few months ago, saying that Republicans should back Donald Trump, Marco Rubio or John Kasich. This obviously showed the bias of the powers that be at FOX, that they did not desire the only true Christian Conservative in the race, Ted Cruz, to win. It is not FOX News’ place to play “kingmaker”, and try to force the candidate of THEIR liking upon us. FOX News, along with the Republican Party have made political calculations on who THEY think can best “win” and which candidates are best for THEIR “agendas”, at the expense of their loyal Conservative viewers and electorate. I believe, in doing so, it will BACKFIRE on them this November and they will DESERVE a third Obama term through Hillary.

I, for one, am not influenced by a Political Party, Television Network or popular pundits, but solely by the WORD OF GOD. I also am not alone in my disgust and displeasure with the GOP and FOX. Here are just a few tweets from other notable Conservatives after Trump’s win tonight –

Yes, we were all very angry and saddened by tonight’s Indiana Primary outcome, which caused our guy Ted Cruz to suspend his Campaign. We hold FOX News and the Republican Party fully responsible and accountable for selling Trump to the people as something he is not, a CONSERVATIVE.  Donald Trump is a moderate liberal with “New York Values” pretending to be a Republican. He will say whatever the voters want to hear. Whatever the popular opinion is on any issue of the week, he goes right along with it, until another week or month later when the popular opinion changes. He has consistently changed his stances on abortion, LGBT issues, Religious liberty, Israel or any other issue that Christian Conservatives should be firm and uncompromising on. With Donald Trump becoming the Republican Nominee, tonight has officially begun a new era, when being a “Republican” and being a “Conservative” have become two very different things. They are no longer synonymous.

That my friends is why, as of now, I’m no longer a Republican. Many so-called “conservatives” in the Media tonight just reenforced my decision. One well known FOX News host actually said “the Party doesn’t need the ‘Never Trump Conservative Ideologues’ anymore”. He said that Trump will bring in Reagan Democrats and Libertarians to REPLACE us. Apparently the conservative “ideology” is something that the NEW Republican Party can do without, as long as they can win the White House in November. Political gain now outweighs Moral values in the GOP.

That would explain why Democrats are becoming Republicans in record numbers. It is NOT because they have seen the error of their ways. It is not because they have become right-wing Holy Bible thumpers like me, or because they all of a sudden embrace Christian Conservative values. Rather, it is because the Republican party has moved to the left, and is ABANDONING the principles it was founded on. That’s why I want to publicly make clear that I’m NOT a Republican anymore, and I’m NEVER a Democrat. I’m A CHRISTIAN. I’m beholden to NO Political Party. I vote Biblical values every time, all of the time. No compromise. No settling. End of discussion. Period.

As for all the Christians who are supporting Trump, who say, “We’re electing a president not a pope”, or “This is a democracy, not a theocracy”, I want to remind you that our Holy Bible instructs us to elect GODLY men to be our leaders. Out of the 17 choices which Republicans had for President, in my opinion, Trump was the LEAST Godly. Many Republicans will guilt trip me for writing him in, saying it’s a “wasted vote” or a “vote for Hillary”, but NO, it’s a vote for whom I believe to be the most God-fearing candidate. It’s not my fault that the Republican Party or it’s voters couldn’t recognize that. They have chosen Trump, and now whatever happens in November is ON THEM. It’s not on me, and it’s not on the other Never-Trumpers. It’s on all those who cast their votes for Donald Trump. If your guy loses, and Democrats win, it’s on YOU. Win or lose, the Conservative voices which the Republican Party have tried to silence will be heard. It’s time for a new Conservative Party to RISE.
